Skins Rework Contracts; Release WR Lloyd

The Redskins freed up some money today as free agency approaches, as the Washington Post is reporting that the team reworked big offensive tackle Chris Samuels’ contract, which will clear up around $3.2 million in cap space. The team has now restructured Samuels and tackle Jon Jansen, which then frees up about $6.3 million and getting them about $3 million under the 2008 cap number. The team also said good-bye to wide out Brandon Lloyd, which ends what was a total bust as far as his tenure in Washington goes. Lloyd caught only 25 passes with no touchdowns in two seasons with the Redskins. His totals were two catches for 14 yards last season, when he broke his collarbone in November.
