Zorn Says He Wants Collins Back as His Backup QB

Collins

The Washington Post is reporting that new head coach Jim Zorn is all for backup QB Todd Collins coming back to the Skins in 2008.  The paper says that Zorn called Collins this past week to tell Collins they want him back, despite Collins being a free agent and being free to go to the highest bidder.  The paper says that Zorn told Collins that Jason Campbell would be his starting QB, but that he considers Collins a strong number two QB.  It was Collins strong play in the last few weeks that pushed the Skins into the playoffs, before their loss to the Hawks in the NFC Wild Card game in Seattle.

Collins, who is 36, says he wants to be a starter in the NFL, but had better realize that even with a solid finish to last season it would be unlikely that he would be able to land a starting job elsewhere in the league.  While the Skins have not made Collins an offer, the Post says that Collins’ agent and the team could begin talking as early as next week at the combine in Indy.
