Redskins Honor Monk, Green, After Elections

It was billed as a news conference, but was more of a chance for two of the greatest players in the history of the Washington Redskins to speak directly to the fans in the days after receiving the ultimate honor.  The team brought wide receiver Art Monk and cornerback Darrell Green to Redskins Park last evening to honor the duo for getting elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For Monk, it was an honor many considered long overdue.  But, after getting passed over in each of the previous seven years, Monk said the phone call  from the NFL telling him of his election caught him off guard.  Both Monk and Green spoke for about ten minutes, handing out plenty of thank yous to coaches, team workers, fans and others in between stories, jokes and one liners.  Green was elected to the shrine in his first year of eligibility.  Both will be inducted this August in Canton, Ohio.
