Giants D-Coordinator Meets with Skins

Owner Daniel Snyder of the Washington Redskins says he is in the final stages of interviewing candidates to replace Joe Gibbs as head coach.  The last candidate is said to be defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, Steve Spagnuolo.  Several media sources say the two met last night at Snyder’s mansion in Potomac to discuss the position.  Snyder said at festivities honoring Hall of Famers Darrell Green and Art Monk that he isn’t being held to a timetable to unveil Gibbs’ replacement.

Others in contention are former Giants head coach Jim Fassel and defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, Ron Meeks.  Washington already has hired offensive and defensive coordinators for the 2008 season.
