Titans Defensive Coordinator Schwartz has Impressive Interview
Has Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwarz taken the early lead as the front runner for the head coaching spot of the Redskins? That’s the story from Tom Curran at NBCSports.com, who says that during the interview process earlier today, Schwartz was very impressive. The 41-year-old Schwartz has been the Titans D-coordinator since 2001. He took over for Gregg Williams, who many felt would be the man to take over after Joe Gibbs announced his retirement on Tuesday. Williams may be out of a job all together if Schwartz gets the job, as he would likely bring in his own guys.
Schwartz did get some run as a possible coaching candidate back in 2005 with the 49′ers. Curran says that Schwartz nearly got the job back then. He’s got local ties with the Skins, as he is from Baltimore, went to Georgetown, and worked with the Browns under Bill Belichick before he moved with the team to Baltimore in 1996. He went to the Titans in 1999. If the Skins job does not fall his way, he will be interviewing with the Falcons Friday and Dolphins on Monday.
