Collins Talks of Testing the Free Agent Market

Collins

With a few good games under his belt, Skins QB Todd Collins appears set to go out and test the free agent market. After Saturday’s poor outing vs the Seahawks, Collins stated that he would like to look to get more playing time next season, even if it means changing teams. “I’d like to have an opportunity to play, I think I can still contribute and help teams win,” the QB said postgame Saturday. It’s common knowledge inside the Redskins organization and to the players that Jason Campbell will be the starting QB come opening day 2008 unless he suffers an injury. Joe Gibbs and the team saw enough of Campbell to know that for now – he’s the teams future at QB. Even if it means Collins goes out and signs with another team. At 36, Collins is going to be hard pressed even with the couple solid games he played to find a team tha will be able to promise him anything more than a backup job, which he already has waiting for him if he wants it in DC.
