Friends, Family Pay Tribute To Sean Taylor

Arrington speaks out

It was a heartfelt tribute to number-21.  Friends and family packed an auditorium at Florida International University yesterday for the funeral of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor.  Perhaps one of the most emotional speakers was Carolina Garcia, who spoke on behalf of her sister Jackie, Sean Taylor’s girlfriend and mother of his child.  “I can honestly say I have never come across anyone that has loved their partner more than my sister loved Sean.  Sean was her entire world.  She believed in him.  She knew the man he really was and stood by him until his last breath,” she said.

Other speakers included Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs, teammate Clinton Portis and various family members and friends.  The Reverend Jesse Jackson also spoke and reminded the audience that Taylor was just the latest victim of gun violence that continues to spiral out of control in the United States.  Four suspects who range in age from 17 to 20 are being held without bond in connection with Taylor’s murder in Florida.  At least two of them have confessed, claiming the killing was accidental during the home invasion and robbery.
