Thump! Skins Trounced by Pats 52-7 in Foxboro

The Redskins have been outclassed by the New England Patriots, 52-7.  Quarterback Tom Brady of the unbeaten Pats led the pasting, hitting on 28 of 39 passes for 306 yards and three scoring strikes.  Brady also scored twice as New England ran its record to 8-0 and sets up a battle of undefeated teams with the Indianapolis Colts next weekend.  The former University of Michigan star has tossed 30 touchdown passes this season, a new career high.  Wes Welker caught nine balls for 89 yards and a touchdown for New England.  Randy Moss snared only three balls for 47 yards.  One was for six points and is his 11th TD grab of 2007.   Also for the Pats, backup Matt Cassel hit on two-of-three passes for 28 yards and ran for a  touchdown. 

Running back Laurence Maroney rushed for 75 yards on 14 carries.  Mike Vrabel  led a swarming defense  with three sacks and added a touchdown catch.  Roosevelt Colvin returned a fumble for another score.  For Washington, Jason Campbell threw for 197 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 21-of-36 passing.  The Redskins have lost two of their last three.  Clinton Portis had only 27 yards on 11 carries, though adding five catches for 54 yards.  Chris Cooley had a TD catch late to prevent a shutout.  Washington lost cornerback Carlos Rogers early in the game with an injury to his right knee.  He is due to have an MRI later today.  The Redskins play at the New York Jets this coming Sunday.
