Line Shuffle Continues: Skins Sign Vet Guard DeMulling

DeMullingVeteran guard Rick DeMulling has signed a one-year deal with the Redskins, hoping to help them out of a jam with injuries on the offensive line.  Right tackle Jon Jansen was lost for the season recently, and starting right guard Randy Thomas is gone for at least 10 to 12 weeks after tearing his tricep in the win over the Eagles.  The Skins have had success running the ball this season, ranking 4th after two games, and a lot of the credit has gone to the strong play of the O-line.

“To lose the whole right side, wow, it’s kind of incredible,” DeMulling said. “I mean, you just don’t hear that happening, especially this early in a season. My job is to get as good as I can, learn the playbook, get into shape and see what I can do. I just need to add as much depth as possible.”  DeMulling has played for seven seasons in the league, starting with the Colts, going to the Lions, then back to the Colts before being cut this past training camp.

The Skins released wide out Shaun Bodiford to make room on the 53-man roster for DeMulling.  “I had a couple of workouts with other teams but they didn’t offer,” DeMulling said. “My agent told me a lot about this team. I just like the way the system is run and the whole show.”  For now, Jason Fabini will start in Thomas’ spot on the O-line.
