Injury Bug Hits Redskins Hard

Campbell goes down

Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell is listed as day-to-day after an MRI confirmed he merely suffered a bruised knee in Saturday night’s preseason game.  Campbell was forced out of the game in the first quarter after he was hit in the leg by the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The hit looked much worse than it ended up being, with some fearing that some ligaments were torn.  But yesterday Campbell arrived at Redskins park on his own two feet, and promised that when he gets back on the field he’ll be playing with the same aggressiveness.  If Campbell doesn’t play this coming Saturday, it’s still unclear whether Todd Collins or Mark Brunell would start in his place.  The news wasn’t as kind to linebacker Marcus Washington, who has his arm in a sling after dislocating his elbow Saturday.  He’ll miss Saturday’s game, but hopes to be back in time for the regular season.  Also, wide receive Mike Espy is done for the year after tearing ligaments in his knee.
